You may be wondering what to expect when you come to visit our church for the first time. That's totally understandable! Visiting anywhere for the first time can be an anxiety filled experience. Whether it is a new restaurant, a new school, or a new church! There may be a few specific questions you may be asking about us, such as:

Rest assured, we at Griffith First Christian are much like other churches that you may have visited. There are some things however that you should know that make us unique. But before we get into that, check out a virtual tour of our church!

Well, to be quite honest, we don't have a strict schedule. But to give you a better idea as to the backbone of what we do, please read the following comments:

First, we want you to know that we are honored that you would be our guest on a Sunday morning. We are all on a journey of faith and we want to help you on your journey. That's what we're here for and that's what we want to do. Our mission statement is simple:

  • Love God
  • Love others
  • Spread the Gospel

If you want to do those things, we think that here, you will feel right at home.

Second, our service starts at 10:45 every Sunday morning. We have a contemporary worship band and we sing upbeat, modern worship songs like you might hear on the radio. We sing songs from artists like Chris Tomlin, Passion, Newsboys, MercyMe and Third Day.

Third, we offer the Lord's Supper (Communion) every Sunday morning. We invite all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ to take Communion with us. It is a very meaningful and special time as we remember the sacrifice that Jesus made for us.

Fourth, we take up an offering (like most churches) every Sunday. Just so you know, we do not expect anyone to give. Giving is not so much an obligation as it is an opportunity. It is an another opportunity to worship God and to say, "Thanks." So if you want to give, give. If you do not feel led to give an offering, don't. It is between you and God, not between you and our treasurer. We also have Biblical sermons every Sunday. Shawn preaches and teaches from the Bible each and every Sunday. The Bible is the Word of God!

Finally, we offer an invitation every Sunday to accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior by being baptized by immersion. If you want to learn more about baptism and salvation, make sure you download our "What We Believe" .pdf here.

Well, what are you like? We are all God's people, and not one of us is without fault and sin. We all have been through the ringer, just like everyone else. The myth that the people who go to a Christian church (or any church for that matter) are in some way better or more righteous than the next person is nothing more than that --- a myth. We at Griffith First Christian Church are a loving family, that meets you at the door welcoming you into our family. We do not believe that we are any better than anyone else, because we are all in the same boat together. Our loving family however helps us, like Peter, to climb out of that boat and walk out onto the water with Jesus.

The music in and of itself is what one would consider contemporary and modern. We are here for one purpose, and that is to worship God. Our on stage worship team is not here to give a performance. Well, technically they are. They are there to give a performance and sing praises to God. But not to us. We are all invited and encouraged to sing the way we see fit, whether it is with our hands lifted high, our our heads bowing in revereance. You are invited to sing, to stand, to sit, to pray, to do whatever it is that you feel comfortable with and you feel that you want to do. No one will think less of you if you merely just sing with your heart. But know that we are all here to sing praises to God. If you wish to learn more about our Music, such as the specific songs we sing, visit our Music Page! On this page is a genre of songs that we sing, as well as a playlist below that that specifically plays the song we will be singing for the current month. Take a look!

We invite you to come as you are and wear what you want (jeans, skirts, khakis, a dress, a suit, a tie, no tie, shoes or sandals). What you wear is not as important as what you bring. Please bring an open heart and an open mind to hear the God of the universe whisper, "I love you" to you in so many ways.
