Meet Brandon, Our Lead Worshiper

Hello! I am Brandon Rukes, and I would be what some would call the Worship Arts Director, or Worship Leader, or that one guy that is always on stage. But after looking at what I will be involved in at GFCC, I chose the title of lead worshiper. This is because I fully believe that it is my great opportunity and responsibility to bring people into God's presence on a Sunday morning (or any other time we meet), and realize that I am merely a fellow brother in Christ, coming alongside you to worship.

In the things that I will be in charge of (sound, lights, songs, atmosphere, hospitality, run of service, and other special projects), I need to focus on bringing everything back to the reason why we are doing what we are doing... to best worship our Lord.

I look forward to hearing from each of you and getting to know you. If we haven't met, or if you are interested in joining the worship team, please seek me out on Sunday! In the meantime, here are a couple things to know about me:

  • I typically have red hair... except right now, as my hair has migrated from the top of my head to my beard.
  • I have lived in Griffith nearly all my life, and I have been attending GFCC since I was enrolled in the God, Me, & ABC Preschool.
  • I have two cats (Batman & Robin), one foster cat (Merlin), and one dog (Beau). He's a lover, not a fighter.
  • I currently work at Purdue University Northwest, where I am the Honors College's Director of Operations.
  • I graduated with a degree in Accounting & Finance, and currently I assist the church in running the finance ministry as well.
  • As Shawn can attest to, I am a avid fan of meat. Cassie, on the other hand, is a veggie person.
  • Speaking of Cassie, I have been married to my lovely wife for over 3 years now (June 22nd, 2014). She's great! You should meet her. She's also a nurse who is going to graduate school to receive her Master's Degree.
  • My favorite Disney Character would have to be Genie from Aladdin.
